First No Show

Last night I went to our weekly small group and no one showed up, which was surprising to me because last time there were several people but also not surprising because it was pouring outside.  Sometimes people show up late so I had decided to go upstairs and go through Pastor Hoon’s collection of books.  More than half an hour had passed so I knew that no one was going to show up.  While I was waiting, though, I found a slim book of about 80 pages called “What’s the Difference? Manhood and Womanhood According to the Bible,” by John Piper.  It occurred to me that maybe God wanted to sit me down at that time and teach me through this book.

I have to admit that I wasn’t disappointed about no one showing up.  I believe there are no coincidences in God’s majestic planning, especially at times like these.  There are some teachings in that book that will permanently stay with me, that have inexplicably challenged me and refined me.  And also some parts were incredibly practical, which I loved.  When things don’t go according to plan, it’s sort of interesting to see how God’s going to show you something different from what you had expected to happen.
